After 7yrs of marriage and a stay home mum I suddenly became a single mum and needed a job that would allow me to work around my kids so I decided to re train myself and completed my diploma in Beauty Therapy as a mature age student in 2009. I worked for a couple of years in Salon/ Spas to gain some experience and when I felt I was ready I built my own home salon and now work from home.

I can not really remember I know I got a few calls asking about lash extensions and did not know what they were so I decided to research and found that Xtreme Lashes had a very good reputation and give thorough training. Tell us a bit about yourself. Why did you get into Beauty?
After qualifying in the UK, I have been working as a beauty therapist for over 20 years. I have been self employed for the majority of this time and have also taught  beauty therapy in college. However, I much prefer to be in the salon environment, particularly one on one with my clients. I moved to Australia in 2008 and work in a small, busy and very friendly salon in Mornington, where I do a whole range of treatments from facials, massage, pedicures, electrolysis and of course eyelash extensions.

What do you love about your work/job?
I love the fact that clients feel comfortable enough to put their trust in me as a therapist. It is great to have new clients through recommendations and see them become regulars. I also like that my days can be quite varied with the wide range of treatments that Ioffer.

Having moved from the UK 5 years ago it was hard to say good bye to some very long term clients. I used to do lots of massage there and was told I had healing hands quite regularly. Now its nice to start to build similar relationships - especially lash clients who can not bare to be without their lashes.

After lots of research I felt that Xtreme seemed to be the most comprehensive and professional. I had initially thought that it might be a fad treatment, but was amazed how quickly the interest built, and I am still amazed at how much of my time is spent doing lashes.  Seeing some of the not so good lashes that are out there. When I came over to Australia I felt it would be good to offer a new service, I had spent many years with a large massage based clientele which was beginning to cause stress on my joints / fingers, so it was good to move away from that type of treatment and do something completely different.

Eyelash extensions have completely changed my business, and it really helps to complement the other services we offer such as nails, hair and bridal services.

I average around 3 full sets and 9 or 10 refills a week, although recently I have had an increase in brides that have been having a set done for their big day.

I love the new faux mink lashes. They feel and look so natural, and application time and wastage is reduced which is fantastic, as is the clean up time in between clients.

How did you find out about Xtreme Lashes®?
I introduced Eyelash Extensions into my business in around 2006 and enjoyed the impact it had on people. I qualified as a Dental Technician about 18 years ago. This profession gave me the opportunity to develop my skills of creativity and view things in detail. I got into beauty first off through doing a make up course in 2005 and loved it but I wanted to do more than cosmetics so I did an apprenticeship through TAFE.  I had an amazing time learning all aspects of beauty and enjoying studying, because it was an area I was fascinated by. I graduated top of my class and year and went on to work in three different salons in north sydney, Walsh bay and sydney CBD and continued to study further beauty skill and techniques.

What do you love about your work/job?

I love my job because I get real satisfaction out of seeing people happier and more confident after I have treated them. Beauty is more than how you make someone look, it’s how you make them feel and having the ability to make someone feel beautiful is amazing. It also means as well as the everyday tasks you get to be a part of lots of important events in peoples lives which is a special part of my job.
 I love where I am working now at Fifty Four Park St day Spa because we have amazing high profile clients, media clients with ACP magazines and many more, which makes my job unique.

Cliche, but I have always had a fascination with makeup ever since I was a child. I was always the girl who did everyone elses makeup pre party! Adulthood saw roles in Sales and Marketing, and doing makeup gigs after hours and on weekends. I like to make it fun and easygoing, taking the seriousness out of first time makeup and lash clients. Beauty and makeup are fun and when it is it becomes easy. Making things easy for your client is the best thing you can do.

How did you find out about Xtreme Lashes®?

As I was on the hunt to expand my skills, I had often thought about lashes, after seeing some very poor work on clients who complained about eyes being tender, irritated and dry, I decided against it. That is until I had heard of Xtreme. Xtreme offers intensive training; support and the application and retail products are by far the best I have seen!

Why did you want to add this service to your business?

I started doing the lash extensions due to a demand from my brides. Loving the strip lashes used on the day, they had hinted that it would be great if there were something more permanent to last throughout the honeymoon. I also wanted brides to make that extra spend as they can be one off clients. The lashes also gave me the opportunity to package them in with the makeup, and potentially target the brides as regular clients with fills. This has become very successful.  

How has offering eyelash extensions changed your business?

Xtreme Lashes has changed my business immensely, particularly financially. Makeup artistry can be very limiting, but the lash extensions have widened my scope creatively and financially. I was able to expand on my business and keep with the focus on my specialty, the face.

How many applications would you do per day/week?

I tend to average, 2-3 per day and overall 10-12 per week.

What is your favourite Xtreme Lashes® product?

I really like the under eye gel lint free gel pads. These are the best I have seen as far as application products go. They sit comfortably and have a nourishing effect on the eye area.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Why did you get into Beauty?

My love of makeup artistry started 17 years ago when I first set foot into the makeup bus on a film set whilst on work experience ….wow moment! I trained under the Academy Award winning makeup artist Peter Frampton and worked within the Film and TV industry as a freelance makeup artist on 100s of TV commercials and a few feature films.

18 months ago I changed direction, starting up a Wedding Makeup Business on the Sunshine Coast and I am loving it. I provide a really personal service to Brides and their Bridal parties and very excited to say I now offer Xtreme lashes too.

What do you love about your work/job?

I think it is witnessing the glee on the face of a woman when she sees her new lashes for the first time, it’s pricelss.

It has immediately increased my income. I am still in the early stages of my business expanding after completing my Xtreme training last December. I am truly excited about the next 12months to see where Xtreme lashes take me.

How many applications would you do per day/week?


I can say I am having a 100% success rate with my brides having their lashes done with me and many of them choosing to have them way before their wedding day and returning for infills. (Ask me again in 6months when I have built up my clientele)

Tell us a bit about yourself. Why did you get into Beauty?

I entered the Beauty industry in the field of Hairdressing and within a year added Nails to my skills. My motivation then was to have an avenue to develop my creative side. As my career and skills progressed, I realized I was motivated to help people and loved to pamper them. 

What do you love about your work/job?

I love the variety and the opportunities I have been exposed to – Salon Management to Salon ownership, industry Educator in Nails and Eyelashes. The opportunity to share my knowledge by showcasing work at trade shows, writing a feature in trade journal. I have travelled and trained other Educators and have been a college lecturer. My work now is still driven to help women feel more beautiful and pampered, by designing and applying lashes for them, I just about jump out of my skin with excitement and the anticipation of seeing a client look into the mirror, and watch their face light up.
I am also an Xtreme Lashes Trainer, so I get to help other industry professionals do the same- very exciting!!
